First off, how badass of a name is Cerberus? Something just boils inside of me thinking of the three headed dog that guarded the pits to hell. PRs start forming in my head. Maybe even each of those dog heads represents our beloved Squat, Bench, and Deadlift? If this is your first experience with Cerberus Strength USA, let’s dig in a little. But Isn’t This About Powerlifting?
If you are thinking, Strongman isn’t Powerlifting, what gives? Strongmen and Powerlifting have a lot in common, with the easiest crossover being the pursuit of strength. Not convinced? What Do I Need To Train Strongman At Home?
We have an article on the way. In the meantime, you can start simply by picking up some random stuff and carrying it around. Fill up a backpack with sand or rocks. Or grab a few items from the shopping list here.
- Deadlifts – The Cerberus Strength USA Deadlift Bar is a GREAT blend of powerlifting and Strongman.
- Weighted Carries – There are a bunch of ways to tackle weighted carries, but a Sandbag is going to get you a HUGE bang for your buck.
- Overhead Press – You can overhead press any bar. But Strongmen use an Axle.
- Tire Flip – If you have a kettlebell, use this to mimic the movement. Otherwise, a Throwing Bag will give ya some double bang for the buck here on Tire Flips and throwing events.
- Atlas Stone – Remember that sandbag? Give it a go for Atlas Stones!

Any chance USA can get UK on board?
My Cerberus 20kg (45#) plates are doing well. They’re the right size for deadlifts then I throw the tri grip plates inside. Just a nice bit of lip on the outside for handling, and they look the dogs nads.
