Micro Gainz – The Worlds Best Fractional Plates
Micro Gainz has been around the GGC for a few years now. I first learned about them on Reddit r/HomeGym as they were the cheapest option for micro plates. I soon learned that they were also 100% American Made and somehow were cheaper than every other option on the market. Pair that with the fact that they are a small operation and continue to put out cool new stuff, and you got me hooked!
Their Bread & Butter
Go ahead and compare Micro Gainz to any other offering on the market. Even the guys that are NORMALLY American Made… I bet you their micro plates are imports. I bet you they are more expensive too. I’ll stand on this hill and scream to the mountain tops, if you are buying micro plates from anyone else, you are wasting your money for an inferior product.
I’m also a big fan of the fact that Micro Gainz are black. A large majority of micro plates come in IPF and IWF color schemes. While that is nice for those that have calibrated plates, a LARGE chunk of us have black plates. So it is nice in my opinion to have these match the aesthetic of the other plates.
You’ll get plates that are crazy accurate as well, within 5 grams of the stated weight. Plus, if you are looking to bust a PR, these work GREAT as they take up next to no room on the bar.
My daughter uses our micro plates regularly. As a 6 year old, it can be difficult to make 5lb jumps. Sometimes a 1 or 2lb jump is the right move. An often overlooked use for Micro Plates? Cable machines! Micro Gainz partnered with GymPin to make a MICRO pin holder. If your cable stack jumps 5 or even 10lbs at a time, you now have the ability to jump up 1 or 2lbs at a time. SUPER helpful for smaller exercises like lateral raises where you might be using less than 20lb total!

Does Micro Gainz Do Anything Besides Micro Plates?
Micro Gainz has three premier products. We already talked about their micro plates, so lets look at their Jacked Stand.
This is their answer to a deadlift jack. With the body made of wood, the long neck for propping up your deadlifts, and the curves of the body, it resembles a guitar. So they went ahead and did some custom styling to finish the job.
Their third piece to the Micro Gainz puzzle… is their Dumbbell Plates. The common home gym, if they have the luxury of having dumbbells, has large jumps. Commonly we are looking at 10lb between pairs. For larger exercises that might be fine, such as rows. But for lateral raises, curls, and other small options it is difficult to jump 10lb at a time. Do the math, if you lateral raise with 20lb dumbbells, jumping to 30lbs is a 50% increase in weight!
The dumbbell plates clip onto the handles of your dumbbells and add 1 to 2.5lb at a time. Essentially giving you two to three times the amount of dumbbells you currently own. I’ll go out on a limb and say, if you own dumbbells, you should own the Micro Gainz Dumbbell Plates.
Final Words on Micro Gainz
Mike, the owner, is an awesome dude. We’ve chatted about lifting (yes, he lifts weights), running your own business, home gyms, and a bunch of other topics. Micro Gainz is a small company that does a lot of supporting of the lifting community. They sponsor grip events, strict curl events, and of course… the GGC.
They partner with Plate Snacks, GymPin, and a few other GGC Sponsors as well.
They’ve been here since 2019, and there is no sign of them running away any time soon.
