Biggins Iron – American Made Cast Iron Goodness
A large majority of equipment manufacturers, are actually more like retailers. They design equipment, work with a company to produce it, slap their name on it, and call it a day. Nothing wrong with this by the way… that is how we make the GGC Junior Bar. That is how a HUGE majority of companies operate. Even large companies that make a bunch in house, out source certain items or partner with teams to expand their line up. Biggins Iron is one of those companies that other companies search out to make stuff. If you haven’t heard of them, lets take a dive into their world.
Who Is Biggins Iron?
Biggins Iron is based in Hamilton, Illinois and they are one of the few American companies making cast iron equipment, right here in the US. They are actually responsible (and have been responsible) for the production of a number of plates throughout the US for OTHER companies, especially during COVID.
Their line up includes two items. Bars, and then anything you can cast. Including cast iron plates, kettlebells, and dumbbells. Their plates come in a few different designs, with different hand hold styles. The kettlebells range from 5 to 50lbs. Their dumbbells staying on the smaller side of 5, 10, and 15lbs.
If you are thinking this is a small company that hides behind the shadows, think again. Their equipment is even for sale at Wal-Mart and on Amazon. You can find their stuff at Garage Gym Outfitters, they help produce the cast iron Weight It Out Plates (my favorite version), and they produce the Intek KRAFT Series Barbell. So they certainly aren’t afraid of making some big plays.

Why Haven’t I Heard More About Them?
Great question. They spend most of their time producing equipment for other brands. What is left over from that pursuit, gets pored into their own side of the house in Biggins Iron. They first popped up during COVID as they saw a drastic need for quality produced equipment, especially plates. So they worked towards making their own offerings.
They are hard at work putting together more and more quality stuff as we speak to expand their line up for themselves and the companies they work with.
I like this shirt. It reminds me of something.
