Oak Club – The #1 Home Gym Enthusiasts Choice
There is a term to describe those that want a little more out of their home gym. More than just functional. Seeking gains, but turning the actual concept of owning a home gym into a hobby and passion itself. Home Gym Enthusiasts. You have them in every sector… people who ONLY buy their favorite brand. Dudes with cars that can drive faster than any speed limit out there. People with specific tastes in cast iron pans, socks, you name it. For the home gym connoisseur it typically includes being focused on aesthetics and a custom yet functional build. Often created domestically, a lot of times by small shop manufacturing. No one does this better than Oak Club.
Who is Oak Club?
Their roots stem from industrial design, manufacturing, and fitness. So not only do they bring a background in building robust stuff, they pair that with a true understanding of gym equipment. So we are blending aesthetics and performance for what might be the ultimate in home gym equipment. I’ve said it for years, there is a clear difference between companies who make equipment and use it, versus companies who just make stuff. Guys and gals who get under the bar have a different appreciation for what the equipment needs to do every single time you use it. The bends, the curves, the edges. The UHMW, the stainless steel, the powder coat. And things only get more particular when you are talking about home gym owners, especially those dang enthusiasts.
They expect their equipment to be meticulously crafted and looking brand new from Day One to Day One Hundred and One. If you can’t make the best of the best, there just isn’t any room for you in the enthusiasts catalogue. And Oak Club pumps out some of the most exquisitely crafted pieces with the details that only a true professional can accomplish. And they do it in house in Canada.
What do they make?
Oak Club stepped on the scene making their James J-Cup. A sandwich j-cup aimed at producing something with the right amount of protection, aesthetics, and unique implementation. It had mixed results out the gate. To be fair, trying to reinvent the wheel can often do that.
Their James 2.0 J-Cups took their pros, dropped the cons, and came out with something that is making people REALLY happy. UHMW protection all around ensures your bar and the J-cups themselves stay in one piece. The custom badging POPS with that Oak Club branding. And they have flush mounted hardware all around so nothing gets caught or snagged.
What stands out the most to me? Compare these price wise to offerings from other big name manufacturers and they line up pretty well. Meaning, you are getting a premium product at a non-premium price.
They’ve since partnered with guys like Brandon Campbell to produce the Campbell Handles, brought out magnet rack pins, and have a full line of rack attachments including storage bins, steps, and more.
They also have a growing assortment of storage options for your bars, weights, and dumbbells.
Custom Stuff
You’ve probably seen the INSANE customization options Oak Club has done over the years. From dropping custom colors onto existing products, to full out custom builds. I featured a recent custom rack option for a Seal Row pad they did. It was sketched up on a piece of paper by a customer and they brought it to life.
In their own words “It’s hand-built, contemporary, innovative, boss level products with a premium feel.”
There are only a couple equipment manufacturers in North America that will custom build equipment for you. The reason is that this requires pieces to be built one by one, often without the benefit of jigs and tools and things that can be set for mass production. It means more time, more room for error, and a higher cost.
But when you know that your goal is to bring something unique to the table, to offer what no one else does, you set aside those inconveniences and pursue that goal with a passion. This is what Oak Club does with every product they product. And their custom one of a kind products are the REAL DEAL.
Oak Club Iron 2
Oak Club dropped a banger a few years back with the Iron 1, a rack attached basketball mini-hoop. It had some room for improvement, but people loved it. They recently dropped the Iron 2, and I was lucky enough to receive an early copy. My daughter Audrey helped me snap some fun pictures to help out OakClub with the launch. You can check out The Iron 2 right here.
GGC Sponsorship
Oak Club is back for 2024, handing out a JAY-M and Pair of MAGPIN 3s in the Spring and Fall Garage Gym Competitions.
