Mutant Metals – Born In The Garage Gym
Standing out in the home gym game isn’t easy. Things are all made of metal and plastic and are used to lift weights in various fashions. So it takes a keen eye and attention to detail to really make something that stands out from the competition. And if you manage to do that more than once, you might just be in a league of your own. If you’ve been around the GGC for awhile, you likely recognize the name Mutant Metals.
I’ve been a huge fan of Christopher Mosley, the owner, since before he formally named his company Mutant Metals. I have pretty much one of everything he makes, and it all gets used regularly in my gym.
What Makes Mutant Metals Different?
Chris has a background in the PT world, so he knows human movement and anatomy. He is an accomplished powerlifter, squatting over 700lbs. And he has exclusively lifted from his garage for years. This is a guy who is ONE OF US, making exceptional equipment specifically for the home gym owners out there. Stainless steel, beautiful knurling, high gloss custom colors, American Made, family run and operated… The list goes on for the buzzwords that they knock out of the park. Chris isn’t looking to make just another piece of equipment, he is looking to make the Ultimate piece of every equipment he makes. He is taking requests, making modifications and improving processes, and he has a TON of ideas in the hopper.
If you like cool new stuff for your gym, companies like Mutant Metals are the ones you should be supporting. They are pushing innovation from inside the community itself and helping make products better at every level. They are offering things that no one else makes, at a quality level that isn’t found at the mass retailers. If you consider yourself a home gym enthusiast at any level, Mutant Metals should be near the top of your list for equipment manufactures to keep an eye on and support in some fashion. Even if you simply give them a follow on Instagram.
Whats Next For MM?
They launched their UDA in 2020. They launched their Snap Back Rollers in 2021. There was a big uproar in community support in 2022 for Mutant Metals. The inside scoop is that Mutant Metals will have something good come from that support, that should allow them to start making more cool stuff. In discussions with Chris over the years, if he can buy some free time to R&D, test, and manufacture some new stuff while keeping the wheels on with the current lineup, we could be seeing several dozen new product launches from them in the coming years. And remember, EVERYTHING is built for the home gym market. Count me in!
