Wall Control – Save Space & Get Your Gym Organized In 2024
Since the home gym is never done, and we are always adding and changing out attachments, knee sleeves, gadgets and gizmos, the ability for our storage to adjust indefinitely is kind of crucial. And since we’ll be hanging heaps of iron and steel, the strength aspect is kind of important as well. And some of us (myself included), like for our gym to look as good as it performs. That is asking a LOT of a piece of storage. Robust, adjustable, aesthetic. Could it also be affordable, Made in the USA, and come with fantastic customer service? That would be WAY too much to ask. Or is it? Not For Wall Control!
I started my gym in 2013. I had used the traditional pegboards for awhile. I had even come up with a few creative “hacks” like spacers and stringers to make them more functional. But ultimately, they were still particle board. The holes would get warped with any weight. The hooks were loose and wobbly and lopsided. Even if I painted them, they just looked unfinished. Fast forward to 2017 and I’m deep in a garage gym overhaul. I’m painting the walls, upgrading my cable attachments, and color coordinating as much as I can to upgrade the function and aesthetics of my space. The problem? Those old pegboards just didn’t fit.
My expanding cable attachment collection had completely outpaced those boards, and they just didn’t look the way they needed to. Hunting around the deepest corners of the home gym online community, I find a few people who have taken some metal pegboards for shop organization, and used them in their garage. BOOM! My problem was solved. I put in my first order of Wall Control boards and have been singing their praises ever sense.

What Is Wall Control?
Wall Control makes metal pegboards for every single storage solution you have. Tools? Check! Gym stuff? Check! Pots and pans? Check! Collection of bedroom toys? Sure! The key here is that the metal checks all the boxes. We get a super strong, aesthetic, and fully customizable solution. I’ve had over 100lbs on ONE BOARD, and had no issues at all. After over 5 years of being on my wall, holding attachments that come on and off the wall daily, they still look brand new. That black powder coat I got is in perfect condition, and I assume it will look the same for another 5 years and beyond. And every time I grab a new attachment? I can reorganize.
I’ve gone from 4 panels to 8 spread across two sections. The boards have transitioned from holding everything from belts and straps, to every cable attachment in the world, to tools and carabiners and more. Wall Control is the most aesthetically pleasing, robust, simple, and ever adjustable storage solution I’ve seen. Most storage solutions are either strong, or adjustable, not both. My personal set up has changed layouts a minimum of a dozen times, and holds 3 pairs of 20lb chains ON ONE BOARD.
If you haven’t already stopped reading and bought your new Wall Control boards, let me finish the sale. The boards are 100% American Made. AND they are a family run organization. I found this out during my first order. I reached out as I was wanting to hang my heavy chains and didn’t know what hooks to order. They recommend the right hooks, and asked that I follow back after ordering to make sure it worked. It did. But, I received a few hooks that didn’t fit in the slats. Again, reached out for questions.
They told me that occasionally the powder coat is applied too thick. Take a box cutter and trim the back piece. This worked! A few days later I had a replacement pack delivered as well, just in case my modification didn’t work.
I have sent a LOT of people to Wall Control over the years, and I’ve heard nothing but good stuff. People love their products and service, and I’ve yet to hear anyone with any issue that wasn’t resolved far above their expectations.
Wait… there is more!
Wall Control comes in a handful of color options and orientations. Not seeing what you want? You can get them to custom add your logo, picture, whatever you want. This is why we included them in our 5 Ways To Customize Your Garage Gym article.
And if for some reason you want to use your old pegboard hooks, you can do that too!
Ok, what Wall Control Items Should I Buy?
If you can store it on the wall, Wall Control has a hook for you. And this large set of options can be intimidating. The good news is, I’ve written up an entire Comprehensive Guide for Wall Control. It will talk about installation ideas, what to buy (what not to buy), and overall help you down the right path. I include reviews from the likes of gyms like Garage Gym Lab, Garage Gym Experiment, Garage-Gyms.Com, Kaizen DIY, Glucks Gym, PSFHybrid, Sutelman, and many more. And I took all of their advice, feedback, and ideas, bundled it with my own, to put together the Comprehensive Guide.
They even won the 2022 Favorite Storage award for Reddit r/HomeGym!
Just want a quick answer without digging through everything?
If I was making a Wall Control Board Package for the Garage Gym Community, this is what I’d include:
- Four boards by buying two of the bundle 32x16in boards.
- Ten packs of the Long Reach Slotted Pegboard Hooks so you get 40 right out the gate.
- Five packs of the Extended Reach hooks.
- Four of the shelves to put on top of the four boards. One bin to store various nick nacks and extras.
- Then of course add any extra hooks and attachments that make sense for your specific equipment, such as if you store camera items, or some tools in the gym, etc.
The standard package above would be about $350 plus tax and ship. If you use code GGC it’ll save you some extra cash as well.
Maximize YOUR Space
In 2021 I asked the question “What is one problem in the home gym you haven’t found a solution for?”. Then we asked it again in 2022. And in 2023.
By a WIDE margin, the number one response was related to space and organization. It makes sense, we are trying to cram a commercial gym experience into a few hundred square feet of space. The more space you have, the more toys you can have. You can make room for stretching, mobility, sound systems, kids stuff, and more. But, until someone invents a way to turn 100 feet into 500 feet, we are left with better organization.
This is why, whether you have a growing cable attachment collection, or just some bands and belts… Wall Control is an excellent investment for your garage gym. There are a ton of creative ways to install it as well. People have run it off stringers, as a way to cover up a water heater or electrical box, even on the back side of various spaces.
Wall Control is definitely more expensive than the cheap and flimsy pegboards at your local hardware store. But they’ll also be a one-time purchase that continues to do its job for years on end. No more falling clips, loose holes, or storage solutions that can’t adjust. Wall Control is the solution.
GGC Sponsorship
Those that have been around the GGC or my personal page for any length of time should be well aware that I love Wall Control. And nothing excites me more than having one of my favorite companies, that makes one of my favorite products, here as a sponsor for the Garage Gym Competition. Wall Control has been on board for multiple years, and they continue to be a great supporter in what we do. Not to mention, winners of their gift cards are taking home a SUPER upgrade for their garage gyms.
The first thing people say when they walk into my gym “It is so well organized!” Wall Control and I have been putting in work for over 5 years, keeping my growing gym under control and organized. And I am ECSTATIC that one of you is going to take home a $200 gift card to build your own set up. And they are doing this for BOTH the Spring and the Fall events.
