When I originally had the idea for the GGC I reached out to 5 or 6 dudes. One of which was Jake at Garage Gym Experiment. Jake and I have partnered on a number of things over the years including AMAs, giveaways, podcast episodes, and more. Why? Because Jake is a cool dude who simply loves being an active member of the home gym community. So much so that he started HomeGymCon. The first convention for those lifting from their garages, basements, backyards, sheds, barns, and more.
HomeGymCon
HomeGymCon began in 2022 in French Lick, Indiana. Jake, an Indiana native, wanted to pick a location that had a lot going on, was fairly affordable, but also provided the opportunity for attendees to all stay in one place. The idea being, this was a community event, it needed to BUILD the community. So places like Las Vegas were off the list. The resort has golfing, swimming, and tons of opportunities for the entire family to have some fun. So you can bring your spouse, kids, you name it… and make it a legit vacation! And of course dig into some of the best home gym community activities, new gear, and more.
HomeGymCon is back for Year 2, back in French Lick with a star studded line up. From a pure home gym perspective, choosing to attend something like HomeGymCon vs The Arnold, should be a no brainer. The event is scheduled for April 26th and 27th and you can find more details right here.
Garage Gym Radio
Garage Gym Radio ALSO kicked off in 2022 (a big year for Garage Gym Experiment), where Jake and others chat about… garage gyms! Jake and his dude Adam walk through their Weekly Roundup on their survey results, new product launches, and all kinds of good stuff. They have regular guests including other home gym content creators, equipment manufacturers, and more.
This is the ONLY home gym based podcast that I am aware of. And Garage Gym Experiment wasn’t done there… he brought on multiple people to host their own podcast as part of his network. My buddy Rob from VintageWeightsPGH has hosted HomeGymHistory, Kyle from KaizenDIY hosted Do You Even Lift Bro?, and Jake has even talked to me about hosting a GGC flavored podcast. Maybe… we will see.
