The Advent Calendar
The MiniGGC… where we take what you love about the Garage Gym Competition, and apply it to something else random and fun. For the Winter MiniGGC we are doing something rather unique, taking inspiration from the Advent Calendars of the holiday season.
Categories
You will have the opportunity to perform 1, 2 or 3 different “categories” of events… Push, Pull and Grab Bag.
The Push category will be centered around Push-Up challenges.
The Pull category will be centered around Pull-Up challenges.
The Grab Bag Category will be random and full of whatever I felt like.
Events
There are a total of 5 events per category (15 TOTAL events). The first events in each category are:
- Push – Max Push-Ups
- Pull – Max Pull-Ups
- Grab Bag – Long Distance Weighted Carry
How Do I Complete an Event?
- Perform your event
- Upload to the social media site of your choice (Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube)
- Use the submission forms to submit your results
- You will receive an email with details on the NEXT event in that same category.
- You can complete the next event in that category, or try a different category. You can perform these in any order you want.

What Do I Get?
Each event you complete, you get 1 “ticket” into our drawing for a shot at our awesome prizes.
So that means you can earn up to 15 tickets. If you sign up for our Newsletter (or are already signed up for) you’ll get an extra ticket as well.
PRIZES UP FOR GRABS This is going to be a good one!
We have four sponsors for this MiniGGC, tossing up some awesome prizes.
First is our Host Sponsor, GORX Fitness. They are tossing up a $100 Gift Card to the GGC Sponsor of your choice. Use it to grab your next barbell, bench, cable attachment, or whatever you want.
Next is Exponent Edge, tossing up TWO of their Edge Landmine Jacks. You can use these for your landmine work to easily load your bar, start off in an ideal position, rack it, you name it.
Third is a Napalm Nightmare from Arm Assassin Strength Shop. This is the pinnacle of grip strength training. Their stuff is so good, they have to close down their site for special order timeframes.
And last but certainly not least, our Grand Prize for the Winter MiniGGC… Freak Athlete is tossing up one of their brand new Nordic Hyper GHDs!
Rules
General Technique
Most people should have a base understanding of what a good push-up and pull-up look like. Again, use your own guide. No one is disqualifying you. If you have an injury that requires you to use less range of motion, do it. If you need to modify pull-ups with a band, do it. If you need to do push-ups off a bench, do it.
